Hello Grade 7 Families!!
I wanted to send a few reminders as we approach the end of the marking period. Quarter 1 ends on Friday, November 4th. Report Card conferences will be held on Wednesday Nov. 16. There will be a notice with appointment slots to meet with the 7th grade teams sent home with students in the next couple of weeks.
As we approach the end of the quarter, I wanted to alert you to some deadlines for Reading and Writing!
1. Book reports are due on Monday! (Oct. 31).
Every student has selected a book for independent reading. They have had a minimum of two class periods to read in school, it has been assigned as homework for several weeks.
They have also had 2 class periods to beginning writing the review. Last Thursday we started handwriting the projects. Today we are working on typing them through Google Classroom.
The entire project doesn't need to be typed, if computer access is an issue. I will gladly accept handwritten projects on Monday. There will be a presentation of the book on Monday as well. Students will give a 2 minute description of their character and have a prop that relates to the character in some way.
Some students have very long books. Thus, we have agreed that 200 pages or so will be enough to read for the written project, and they will finish reading their book after submitting the written work.
2. Missing homework assignments are not accepted more than 4 days late. Points are also deducted for each day the assignment is late. Students are aware that handing in work after their class period makes the work late. Points are deducted when the work isn't in my classroom at the start of class.
3. The other projects from this marking period include their personal narratives and postcards from a character's point of view. These assignments have been done IN CLASS. However, students may need time to finish these assignments at home.
Given all of this, homework from today through next week will consister of:
-finish personal narrative
-finish and publish postcards from the Lightning Thief
Please let me know if you have any questions!
