To keep you updated: -Students were assigned an independent reading project over the break. They were to maintain a reader's journal as they read the book (each entry should be about a paragraph that identifies the page read and provides the student's thinking). Then they have a list of activities to complete once the book is finished. They can pick any number of activities from the list, but need to submit at least 50 points worth. This project is due Friday, Jan. 8. -We are continuing to work on our Research Paper over these next few weeks. Much of this work will be done in class, but there may be times students need to complete the work at home. This week (1/4-1/8) will focus on finding sources. Next week we will begin drafting. Stay tuned for exact due dates. -January also means time for our next round of testing. the SRI Testing (Scholastic Reading Inventory will be on Friday, Jan. 8 for non-Read 180 students. Students already completing a news report of the event. (Those grades will be posted this week). A final wrap up activity will occur later this month in class. Homework: Students should continue to work on their Independent Reading Project as homework this week. New independent reading books will be selected after SRI testing. Reading Logs will return to being a weekly homework assignment, with 4 entries due each week. This is to ensure that even in the event of a snow day, students are still reading at home.
